Update On My Current Works-In-Progress

Hi everyone. Once again I want to thank everyone for all the support so far and the kindly emails and comments!

I'm currently working on three projects, one a new Fantasy novel set in my Fractured Multiverse series, but it's the other two I wish to discuss here today. I've been hard at work developing a new Paranormal Romance universe that focuses on vampires which will be under the overall series title Tales From the Vampire Underground. Writing a vampire story is something I've been wanting to do for a while now as I love vampires just as much as I love elves. ^_^ Right now I have two separate entries started for this universe. The first is a novel series which I hope to have the first book out by the end of this month. I will release more information--title, blurb, excerpts, and a sample cover once the book is nearing publication. I will also be setting up a signup sheet for any readers interested in becoming an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) reviewer. Details on how to sign up will be discussed more in my next Reader Newsletter.

The second entry for The Vampire Underground I am currently working on is in response to quite a few emails I have received asking if I planned to offer any of my titles in Amazon's Kindle Unlimited subscription program. While I cannot at the moment offer any of my Elven King series in Kindle Unlimited since I would have to pull my books from other retailers and offer them exclusively at Amazon, I have decided to write a new short story/novelette series of standalones under the subtitle: Erotic Tales from the Vampire Underground and offer it as an Amazon exclusive series to read for free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. For readers without a subscription, each story will be offered for $0.99 on all Amazon stores. I also plan on releasing at least one future Elven King story for Kindle Unlimited Subscribers. I have a tentative release date of either September 12, 2014 or September 15, 2014 scheduled for Story #1 pending final edits and hope to release a new story every two to four weeks thereafter. I will post more definitive information about the release on Wednesday or Thursday.

I have also launched a new Author page on Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/CristinaRayneAuthor. While most of my posts will be made here on my blog, I will also post shorter news tidbits about my titles as well as relevant news from the world of books in general, answer reader questions, and announce any upcoming sales on my Facebook page.

"Fate" Release May Be Delayed...

I just wanted to updated everyone on the status of the final Elven Brothers Novella. After checking several author threads, it seems everyone has been having problems publishing their novels on Amazon all day on Sat. It's now almost 2 am Sunday and my book still appears to be stuck in publishing limbo. Hopefully Amazon support will get back to me soon or the problem resolves itself before then. I'll keep everyone posted on the book's status here and through my reader newsletter.

Claimed by the Elven Brothers: Fate

        I was so nervous that I was actually starting to feel really queasy.

Seren lounged beside me, talking about who-knows-what as I had unconsciously started to tune him out while I stared hard into the hazy distance for signs of movement. Locien had been gone for quite some time, but with time flowing differently in the Inbetween, I had no way of knowing if only ten minutes had passed within the elven realm or an hour.

After everything they and Emily had told me about the elven king, I think it would have been more accurate to say that I was terrified to meet him rather than nervous. I couldn’t even imagine what a man that had lived over two thousand years would be like, not to mention one who physically radiated power.

That thought brought me up short, and I turned to Seren. “I can’t believe I never asked either of you this, but how old are you two exactly?”

Seren blinked at me curiously. “What brought such a question on so suddenly?”

“I was just thinking about the impossibility of the elven king’s age and realized I had never asked.”

“Would it bother you were we both His Majesty’s age?” he asked.

“Bother…I don’t think so. More like let me put several things in perspective. The way all of you have described your king makes him seem like something that couldn’t possibly exist outside of a story—more than elves, I mean. To actually meet someone like that face-to-face…” I shivered. “I guess what I’m trying to say is that it wouldn’t be so overwhelming if it turns out I had already met a couple of elves just as old and who aren’t so—sorry—alien.” I smiled a little embarrassedly.

       “I see.”

New Elven King Novella: Claimed by the Elven Brothers: Decision

The more I looked at them, the more I wanted to just turn around and head back to the jogging path and my car and forget I had even come here on this crazy wild goose chase. Yet they were there, two tall pine trees about a meter apart with a single fallen branch devoid of all its leaves lying horizontally between them from trunk to trunk, and I couldn’t deny that I had seen them.

I had come out here expecting to find nothing—well, that wasn’t exactly true. I was expecting to find peace of mind again after two days of this very image consuming my every waking thought, an image from a reoccurring dream from the past two nights. That I was now seeing it in reality was mindboggling.

When it rains it pours...

As some of you are well aware of, Part Four of Claimed by the Elven King should have been published yesterday (Fri 6th) and as of 6:00 am on Sat., it still has not become available on Amazon yet and is still listed as "in review" on my Amazon KDP dashboard. After several back and forths with Amazon Reps, I believe we have finally resolved the issue, and they have assured me that the book is back in their publishing queue and should be available for sure today.

Claimed by the Elven King: Part Four (Final)

"After Sethian’s cryptic remark, he had urged me to sleep, and I must have nodded right off because I could remember little after that. I never expected to wake up still intertwined within his arms—and I had no idea how to act in this kind of situation. Should I say “good morning”? Turn around and give him a good morning kiss instead?

Readers Have Spoken...A New Serial Schedule and My Thoughts on Serials

I think the first serialized novel I ever read was Stephen King's The Green Mile back in the mid '90s sometime. It was released in 6 parts, each around a hundred pages or less in length. I remember getting to the end of the first novel and the anticipation and excitement I felt for the next part that had yet to be released. Once all six parts had been released and devoured, I went back to the very beginning and re-read all of them in one sitting. I found that having the book split into parts actually enhanced the story, that it elevated the subsequent scenes because I had been anxiously waiting to read them. To me, the anticipation was part of the fun.

Now that I'm writing my own novels, I wanted to try my hand at a serial. Three parts in at the halfway mark, I'm finding that a good majority of readers do not enjoy the serial format and have voiced their concerns in both reviews and private emails/messages to me. As reader feedback is very important to me, I have decided to release Parts 4-6 together in a single, novel-length Part Four that will conclude the serial.

Part Four was originally scheduled for release on May 29, but as the final part will now be significantly longer, I will be taking an extra week for the final edits to ensure the quality. The new release date for Part Four will now be on June 6, 2014.
